Niktai and Takei tes Sa'ilth'ini

Niktai and Takei are identical twin brothers who came to Sarna from one of the villages that was hit by the Corruption forces very early on in the war. They came so that they could learn to defend their home from further attacks. Unfortunately, while they were in Sarna, word came to them that their village had been completely destroyed. So, they stayed in Sarna after their training was complete. Kharie'l assigned both of them to my squad because of their exceedingly great skill with their blades.

They were beautiful to watch in battle. They would stand back to back and link their minds so that they fought as one being. I found out later that they had long loved each other as well, and had bound themselves to each other privately.

They had the straight hair of their clan, and they must have had some Listari blood in them a few generations back because in the right light, their hair sometimes looked silvery. They had blue eyes.

It was during one of the last battles before the Gating that Takei was killed. I regret all the deaths among my boys, but Takei's death hit me especially hard. The forces of UnLife had the power to literally unmake souls, to destroy them completely so that they could not reincarnate anymore. It was if they never were.

At the time of Takei's death, this power was attempted upon him. Through my skill in protecting all my Adrastai and because of Niktai's sheer willpower and great love for his twin, the UnLife was unsuccessful in accomplishing its goal of completely destroying Takei's body and soul.

It was obvious his body was irreparable and he was gone. At first we though the UnLife had been successful in destroying him, but then I felt him. He had been thrown far away from us, and felt damaged and weak, but he was still there, still out there somewhere.

Right after Takei's death, Niktai was taken to the Healing Wing and placed in stasis as a precaution. When he came out, it was after the Gating was over and the realm had already receded.

Niktai is now a Temple Guard and most often stands in front of the right column while Torlinque stands on the left. He and Torlinque have become close friends over the years and have been a great help to each other in their grief. Niktai still grieves his brother, and Torlinque grieved me for a long time. We keep a close eye on Niktai now for any signs of fading. Currently, he's doing pretty well, and has in fact, recently taken a Lovemate.

I have told Niktai that I will do everything in my power to find Takei if he is here on Earth, and I am. Even though there are 6 billion people on the planet and counting, if he is here, I will find him eventually. When he was killed, he took a tiny piece of me with him.
